1:01Now PlayingA top Pentagon official told lawmakers Wednesday that the Iran war has cost about $25 billion so far, as the conflict nears its 60-day mark.
"Approximately, at this day, we're spending about $25 billion on Operation Epic Fury," acting Pentagon Comptroller Jules Hurst told House Armed Services Committee Ranking Member Adam Smith (D-WA).
Mr. Hurst said most of the cost has come from munitions, as well as from operations, maintenance, and equipment replacements.
He added that the Pentagon is working on a supplemental funding request and will soon present it to Congress.
"We will formulate a supplemental, through the White House, that will come to Congress once we have a full assessment of the cost of the conflict," Mr. Hurst said.
