6:49:41Now PlayingRobert Telles, the former Clark County public administrator is accused in the death of 69-year-old Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter Jeff German, who was found stabbed to death outside his home in September of 2022.
So what could the motive be for a politician to kill a reporter? Well, Jeff German had been digging into to how Telles was running his office, which include a pattern of retaliation, harassment and an inappropriate sexual relationship with an employee, all of which sourced to German by a female employee who worked under Telles...German followed the lead, wrote the story and it was published in the Journal for the world to read all about.
Jeff was found deceased at the side of his home by a neighbor. He had been stabbed to death. Video footage caught the attacker in action, who was seen wearing an over sized straw sun hat and a bright orange saftey jacket.
Within 5 days, Vegas PD arrested Telles as they had found and tested DNA found under German's fingernails, which purportedly is a match with Telles's DNA.
If that's not bad enough for Telles, the suspect was also seen driving a maroon Yukon Denali, and guess who has a maroon Yukon Denali registered in their name? Robert Telles? No....but his wife does. They also found cut up pieces of a straw hat in the Telles home garage and a cut up piece of a nike sneaker with blood on it in the home itself. To pile on the daunting mountain of evidence, they also have a violent and threatening voicemail from Telles that was found on German's phone, which was not easy for LE to get its hands on as the Journal fought turning the phone stating that all of the material on all of German's devices was protected by the 1st Amendment...this fight made its way all the way to the Nevada Supreme Court.
Telles who is also an attorney, was originally representing himself Pro Se, but quickly realized that a lawyer that represents himself, has a fool for a client and hired counsel to rep him at trial.
Telles maintains his innocence and is claiming that the cops have framed him...
So the stage is set for what is sure to be yet another fascinating and disturbing display of the human condition at its worst.
