St. Faustina’s Stigmata and the Power of Intercessory Suffering

In paragraph 1425 of her Diary, St. Faustina Kowalska shares one of the most profound mysteries of her spiritual life: the gift of the stigmata, the wounds of Christ imprinted on her body. This extraordinary grace was not given for her own sake, but for the sake of others—for the conversion of sinners and the salvation of souls. Like St. Paul, who wrote, “I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I complete what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions” (Colossians 1:24), Faustina bore her suffering with love, uniting it to the sacrifice of Christ.
