4:39Now PlayingRapper Lil Flip sat on the VladTV couch to talk about his runin with authorities after he was arrested in 2013 for carrying an AR15 and marijuana while driving in Louisiana on Christmas night. Even though, rappers were known for getting arrested for such behavior, the rapper said that he was raised by family members who were Black Panthers and was taught to carry a license in order to bear arms, which eventually kept him out of jail.
"The way I was taught young was different." He recalled about his upbringing, "We would talk business, we would talk [about] look[ing] out for your people ... Keep you're record clean so you could carry your thing, legitimately."
Eventually Lil Flip avoided jail time because he followed some sound advice and credits his family for a different childhood than some other rappers, "So, I had an advantage over a lot of artists in the game because stuff I was taught as a kid prepared me to be where I'm at."
