Michael Jai White responded to Jemele Hill's comments athletes going broke due to survivor's remorse and wanting to make sure the people around them benefit off of their success. White agreed with the her statement and added that religion is also a factor. According to White, western religion teaches people to ask and expect things rather than working hard to get them.
He also rejected "hook me up" culture and said the real way to help someone is to provide them with the information to change their circumstances. However, White said that he's helped people and has invested in friends' businesses but only if they've done the necessary homework to prove their serious. To support his claim, the martial artists referenced his story about Michael Clarke Duncan as well as meeting a man on the street who went on to do 30 films.
