In this clip, Too Short explains why rappers from the West Coast weren't getting love from the East Coast back in the 80's and 90's. He states that a big reason for the the discrepancy in the way that rappers from both coasts were treated was largely due to the fact that most of the hip hop outlets were located back east at the time. Later in the discussion, the Oakland native reveals that the earned respect from his counterparts on the East Coast by putting on the best live shows. Once he began to appear on the same lineup as performers from the East Coast, many of them would go out of their way to tell him how great of a live performer he was back in his prime.

Later, Too Short talks about opening up for N.W.A. before he blew up on a national scale. He also details his grind as a live performer. As the interview continues, the Oakland native talks about the four elements of hip-hop and the ways in which aspiring rappers tried to achieve all four aspects when he was growing up. Lastly, the 55-year-old shares his thoughts on the old East Coast vs. West Coast hip hop rivalry and declared that it actually stemmed from the beef between Death Row Records and Bad Boy.
