In this clip, Shawn Prez started off speaking to Angie Stone about “Mahogany Soul,” her second album, which Shawn Prez said was part of her pioneering the Neo-soul movement. Angie stated that she was speaking her “truth” on the album, which she said happened after her break-up with D’Angelo. When it comes to “Wish I Didn’t Miss You,” Angie clarified that it isn’t about D’Angelo, and she pointed out that she didn’t even write the song. Angie clarified that she didn’t like the song, and she went on to reveal that it was the last song to make the album. From there, Angie also revealed that she didn’t like “Kiss You,” which is another one of her biggest songs, but she says she likes it now. Angie then spoke about the video for “Brotha,” and she explained that she called Samuel L. Jackson and other celebs to be in the video. However, she ended up using photos because everyone she called was “busy,” but they all reached out after the video dropped. When asked about her Grammy nominations, Angie says she’s been nominated for three, but she’s never won.
