Hector Berrellez, a former DEA special agent with over 30 years of experience, is known for his role in solving the kidnapping, torture, and murder of undercover DEA agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena by Mexican drug lord Felix Gallardo of the Guadalajara Cartel. He is also the author of the book "The Last Narc," which was adapted into a TV series on Amazon and featured in the show "Narcos" on Netflix. During the interview, Berrellez revealed he was born in the United States but comes from Mexican heritage. He grew up in Tucson, Arizona, speaking a mix of English and Spanish, which he called Spanglish. Berrellez attended the University of Arizona and initially studied business before joining the service. The interview provides insights into Berrellez's background and sets the stage for further discussions about his career and experiences in law enforcement.
