In the hypothetical situation that former President Donald Trump were to be convicted of a crime, such as the RICO case in Georgia, he would still receive Secret Service protection even in prison, according to Alan Dershowitz. The individual also mentioned that Trump could possibly delay serving his sentence until after his term, should he be sitting president. Alan expressed doubt this would happen, but acknowledged it as a possibility. He also discussed how the ongoing legal cases could influence whether Trump could run for president again. Despite a conviction, Alan believed Trump could, and likely would, run again. He cited past examples of political figures running for office while in prison, such as Eugene Debs in 1920.He also pointed out that some scholars believe the 14th Amendment could prevent Trump from running again if convicted.
