1090 Jake detailed his life as a white member of the Bloods. At 18, 1090 Jake was sent to prison, where he found himself in violent altercations, including a retaliation cutting incident that left him with a seven-inch slash on his face. While in prison, he claimed to have experienced harsh and brutal treatment, with prison officials allegedly 'hot glueing' his wounds instead of providing stitches. Despite being white, 1090 Jake was accepted into the Bloods due to his willingness to engage in violence. Even when older gang members questioned his authenticity as a white Blood, he asserted his status with assertion and sometimes violence. Reflecting on his initiation into the gang, 1090 Jake said he believes he had to show a higher level of aggression compared to his peers, which often involved violent confrontations.
