In a recent interview on VladTV, comedy legend Carlos Mencia reflected on his multicultural upbringing and early life experiences. Born in Honduras, but raised in East LA with a Mexican influence, Mencia feels a blend of all these cultures. He hails from a large family, with 17 siblings in total. However, Mencia comically simplifies this for his acts. Despite being born in Honduras, Mencia identifies as Mexican due to his upbringing and influences from his Mexican families' traditions and way of life. Mencia shared memories of his childhood in East LA during the late seventies and early eighties, reminiscing about a time with more freedom for children. Growing up in an environment that required responsibility suited him as he was a responsible child and often acted as the voice of reason among his friends. The comedian also shared a humorous incident about getting caught swimming in a prohibited area, reflecting on a time when the police were more lenient towards childhood mischief.
