They speculated about the motivations behind the warfare, suggesting it could be based on territorial disputes, resource control, or simply financial incentives. Irving expressed his frustration about the billions of dollars being poured into military aid for foreign conflicts while numerous domestic issues go unresolved. He also questioned the sustainability of such spending, suggesting wars never truly end, just prolong, and expressing uncertainty about the future of the conflict.
