In a revealing interview, host Shawn Perez and Hector Berrellez discussed a significant problem between Mexico and the US. Hector described how, in Mexico, criminal acts are glorified in popular culture with songs celebrating cartels and the children aspiring to be like kingpins due to their visibility and apparent success. Hector explained that this phenomenon stems from a lack of government support and systemic issues like poverty, which creates a perception that kingpins contribute more to communities than the government itself. Hector said this situation results in young people, particularly Mexican-American youth, being steered toward crime. He recognized a similar situation in many American cities, where poverty-stricken minority children often feel pressure and accusing the US government of turning a blind eye to the issue.
