He reflected on the sentencing of his friends and asserted that he always expected Tekashi 6ix9ine to walk free after his cooperation with the law enforcement authorities. He expressed his initial uncertainty about his sentence, as his legal counsels thought he’d only serve 84 months (or 7 years), but the DA wanted to stretch it to 96 months. Eventually, Fubanger was awarded seven years and one day, plus three years of supervised release. After his appeal was denied, he sought to change his public defender for non-responsive behavior. While inside, he said the atmosphere in federal prisons wasn’t much different from the state’s. Fubanger also used his time to obtain a GED.
