During the height of his career, Diddy chose to hire street figures for protection, such as the late Wolf - a renowned street figure known for his seriousness. White explains that being around these such people, with their constant sense of living-in-the-moment, can be intoxicating and exciting to those from similar backgrounds. He compares it to a drug-like high, stating the connection and deep relationships made in this context are unlike any others. He argues that while ex-CIA officers may be more skillful and accurate, they lack the crucial street skills and innate awareness that comes from growing up in the hood - the kind of vigour that can make a real difference when high threat levels arise.
