Former Army sniper Nicholas Irving weighed in on the shooting of conservative leader Charlie Kirk, addressing speculation about whether the gunman intentionally aimed for Kirk’s neck. Irving dismissed the idea as implausible, explaining that experienced shooters typically target the head or chest, not the neck, as it’s a risky and unorthodox shot. He cited ballistic factors, including bullet drop over distance, as the likely reason the bullet struck Kirk’s neck instead of the head, attributing it to the shooter’s inexperience and poor understanding of their rifle’s setup. Irving also debunked claims that Kirk was wearing body armor, noting visible clothing details inconsistent with armor. He described how in real sniper situations, victims don’t get "blown back" as Hollywood often depicts, but rather collapse due to the bullet’s immediate lethal impact.
