Daz on Directing Snoop's "Pimp Slapp’d" Music Video Dissing Suge, Kurupt & Xzibit (Part 16)

In a new interview, Daz Dillinger reflected on the tense early-2000s fallout surrounding Death Row Records, Kurupt’s return to the label, and Snoop Dogg’s infamous Suge Knight diss, “Pimp Slapped.”

Daz said that after leaving Death Row and signing with Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def, he was “on some bullshit” toward anything connected to his former label. That attitude contributed to his beef with Kurupt when Kurupt went back to Death Row, which Daz described as a chaotic period involving money issues, heavy drinking, and label politics.

Daz also revealed that he directed Snoop’s “Pimp Slapped” video. According to him, Snoop gave him the song after seeing Daz filming a separate project where he symbolically dragged and humiliated a Suge-like figure around Los Angeles. The “Pimp Slapped” video, Daz said, “went viral without the Internet,” spreading during the AOL dial-up era.
