Corey Holcomb sits down with Vlad to reflect on his unexpected connection to Kendrick Lamar, from learning that Kendrick’s father, Kenny Duckworth, grew up in Chicago’s Robert Taylor Homes to being personally contacted for a role in the “These Walls” music video. Holcomb says he initially didn’t believe Kendrick was really reaching out until the request went through an agent, but came away impressed by the Compton rapper’s authenticity and creative trust.

The comedian also recalls working on the video’s jail and house-party scenes, explaining how Kendrick and the crew let him improvise instead of forcing a rigid performance. Vlad and Holcomb also discuss Terry Crews’ memorable dance moment, Crews’ offbeat energy on set, and the small-world ties between Chicago, Compton, comedy, and hip-hop culture.
