In a new interview, Hunter Biden reflected on the difficult period following the 2015 death of his brother, Beau Biden, and addressed his later relationship with Beau’s widow, Hallie Biden.
Hunter said his family was devastated by Beau’s death, which also influenced Joe Biden’s decision not to run for president in 2016, despite some believing he could have beaten Donald Trump. Hunter said that, at the time, he “could not imagine” his father mounting a campaign while the family was grieving.
Asked about his relationship with Hallie, Hunter clarified that it began after his separation from his wife and before his divorce was finalized in 2017. He called the relationship “stupid,” “misguided,” and “a really f****d up thing,” saying grief does “really f****d up things” but is not an excuse.
Hunter added that the relationship hurt people around them, including his daughters, niece and nephew, and Hallie herself.
