I believe - and research has shown - that one of the biggest reasons mental health issues are on the rise in social media use. This trend makes mental health struggles seem cool, and even that it's abnormal if you don't suffer from mental health issues.

πŸ’Š For example, you might see clothing slogans like "Hot girls take Lexapro" or home decor featuring pill bottles from high-end stores. This can be harmful, as it sensationalizes mental health disorders in a very romantic way.

πŸ“ˆ The US is seeing a peak in mental health problems and also therapy sessions, but there seems to be a disconnect. While therapy rates increase significantly, so do mental health issues. Shouldn't there be an inverse effect? I believe the main problem to be rumination. This is when people constantly think about and talk about their problems and ruminate on them instead of actually working to address the root cause, it can do more harm than good.

πŸ™ What's really important for mental health is having a belief in something bigger, like a connection to God. In fact, studies show that people who are religious often have better mental health.

Here are some simple tips to improve mental health, especially for Gen Z:

πŸ‘‰ Digital Fasting: Limit your screen time. Use apps like Opal to help manage it.

πŸ‘‰ Curate Your Feed: Follow positive accounts that help you grow mentally, spiritually, and physically. Avoid negative news.

πŸ‘‰ Get Outdoors: Spend time outside to get Vitamin D and feel better overall.

πŸ‘‰ Supportive Friends: Build a friend group for deep conversations and quality time. Put your phone away when you're with them.

πŸ‘‰ Spiritual Engagement: Go to church, read the Bible, and join community worship.

By doing these things, you can improve your mental health and well-being.
