YouTube Description
as posted by the channel🚨 Senate blocks effort to halt Iran war
Senate Republicans voted down legislation that would have required congressional approval for further U.S. military action against Iran, rejecting Congress’s first attempt to curb President Donald Trump’s war.
▪️ The War Powers Resolution failed 47–53, largely along party lines. Republican Rand Paul voted in favor, while Democrat John Fetterman voted against.
▪️ Republicans argued passing it during an ongoing conflict would send the wrong signal to Iran and undermine U.S. troops.
▪️ The vote came as the war spreads across the region and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the campaign could last up to eight weeks.
▪️ Meanwhile, six U.S. service members were killed in a drone strike in Kuwait over the weekend.
A House vote on a similar measure is expected Thursday. Drop Site’s Julian Andreone caught up with congressman Rep. Ro Khanna who is sponsoring the measure in that chamber. Listen to their exchange.
