3:03Now PlayingUntil recently, farmers in the northwestern state of Rajasthan simply burned the remains of mustard plants that were of no use to them. But today, the stalks and husks of the plant don't just help farmers boost their incomes but also to generate electricity. The plant remains replace charcoal and are burned to generate 8 megawatts of eco-friendly electricity and supply 40,000 rural households. What's more, the remaining ash is used to produce bricks that are in turn used as fertilizer on mustard fields. A film by Wolf Gebhardt.
