On Twitter the president said both sides have made 'substantial progress' in trade talks. The world's two biggest economies have been locked in a trade dispute for months, with the US accusing Beijing of intellectual property theft and limiting American access to its markets. The new tariff increase was set to come into force on 1 March. Speaking shortly after his Twitter announcement, Trump said he was looking forward to reaching a trade deal with China.
