It is a big defeat for Prime Minister Boris Johnson who has vowed to call an election if parliament blocks efforts to leave the EU without a deal on October 31. Johnson is bracing for another showdown in parliament. Today lawmakers can vote on legislation to prevent the UK from crashing out of the EU without a deal at the end of October. Johnson has responded by saying he would call for a snap election.
