It comes as a delegation from the Armenian community of Nagorno-Karabakh arrived for talks in the city of Yevlakh in Azerbaijan. The talks are taking place after Azerbaijan secured a swift military victory over ethnic Armenian separatists in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Protesters rallied in the Armenian capital, Yerevan, over the government's handling of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh – accusing it of abandoning Armenians Nagorno-Karabakh is internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan, even though most of its residents are ethnic Armenians.
The region has long functioned as a de facto autonomous region.
