14:49Now PlayingDW speaks with retired US Army officer Ben Hodges to understand the details and the consequences of the US's latest aid package for Ukraine.
President Biden promises a new weapons package at the White House, but Volodymyr Zelensky faces resistance from US lawmakers, as Congress debates future funding. Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelenskyy earlier arrived in Canada as he continues his effort to rally Western nations' support for Kiyv efforts to repell Russia's invasion.
Zelenskyy and his wife were greeted at the airport by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The unannounced trip is Zelenskyy's first to Canada since Russia invaded Ukraine. He's is expected to address parliament in Ottawa later today. He last addressed the Canadian Parliament virtually shortly after the war started in March 2022.
Zelenskyy's visit comes after he met with US President Joe Biden and lawmakers in Washington earlier on Thursday. That meeting led to Biden announcing 325 million dollars in new military aid for Ukraine.
