9:49Now PlayingA three-judge panel at the 5th US Circuit Court of Appeals ordered late Tuesday the freezing of a Texas migrant law just hours after the US Supreme Court gave it the greenlight.
The law would make it possible for the police to arrest and detain people who cross the border from Mexico to Texas unauthorized.
Texas authorities did not report any arrests during the short time that the law was in force. Mexico said that it would refuse to take anyone back who is ordered to leave the country under state law.
The statement by the Mexcian Foreign Affairs Secretary warned that it "categorically rejects" any state or local government enforcement of immigration control.
