Killings, rapes and kidnappings have risen sharply since Haitian President Jovenel Moïse was assassinated in 2021. The United Nations says gangs have killed more than 3,600 people this year alone. A UN security force led by Kenya is supposed to include 2,500 police officers. Only 400 have arrived so far, but they have made some gains.
