18:54Now PlayingThe Sednaya Prison, north of Syria’s capital, Damascus, was one of the first places liberated by the rebels. Human rights observers estimate 30,000 detainees were killed there since the beginning of the Syrian civil war in 2011. Many others were tortured.
Some who survived have been reunited with friends and family after being detained for years. For our report, DW’s Aya Ibrahim and Rama Jarmakani in Damascus have been talking to a former detainee.
