The head of the powerful gang "Los Choneros" had escaped in January 2024 from a maximum-security prison in the port city of Guayaquil. Ecuador's President Daniel Noboa is pushing for 'Fito's extradition to the US. On Thursday Noboa announced: "We have done our part to proceed with Fito's extradition to the United States. We are awaiting their response." Noboa is a political ally of US President Trump.
