Some are being tricked or forced into joining Russia's forces, often being lured with promises of lucrative jobs. But the human cost of this recruitment is becoming clearer.
In Cameroon, dozens of families have reported that their loved ones have either died or disappeared after reaching Russia and then ending up on Ukrainian battlefields. Among these are civilians and even soldiers who deserted the Cameroonian army in search of better opportunities abroad. DW's Blaise Eyong reports from Douala.
