1:17Now PlayingIDAHO FALLS – The new TSA body scanners at the Idaho Falls Regional Airport will help to alleviate holiday overcrowding in the security lines, airport officials say.
Travelers are able to go through the security process about 30 percent faster than before, Airport Director Craig Davis said
TSA Spokesperson Lorie Dankers said the Pro-Vision 2 cost $150,000 and was bought through federal funding costs.
“It can detect metallic and nonmetallic items that can be concealed in someone’s clothing,” Dankers said, “The second thing is it’s not a metal detector so those who’ve had hip or knee replacements, they will not alarm the technology.”
Dankers also said the scanner is not an X-ray. No image of a passenger’s body is ever captured or seen.
“You can feel comfortable traveling through the Idaho Falls Regional Airport just as (you) would a larger hub throughout the national transportation system,” Davis said.
