1:26Now PlayingVO: The two things people can see when they eat at Geraldine’s is its family run, and the food is made fresh.
SOT: "They make wonderful sandwiches, wonderful rolls, cinnamon rolls…” Customer Sharry Cuevas says.
VO: In 2001 Jay and Merry Bungard took over the business from their sister Geraldine Crookston, and have made some fresh changes.
SOT: “Since we’ve bought it we’ve expanded the product line. (There are) more sandwiches different kinds of bread, more cookies and sweet rolls and stuff like that,” Owner Jay Bungard says..
VO: Bungard says just about everything is hand made.
SOT: “We do everything in house. We make our bread in house, we slice our meats and cheese in house, everything is made from scratch in house,” Bungard says.
VO: During the holidays the demand for baked goods are ever increasing.
STAND UP: I’m in the middle of their holiday rush and this cookie right here is one of their most popular during the holidays. They make about 300 per day.
VO: Regardless of the time of year, customers still flock to the shop to satisfy their need for baked goods.
SOT: “Everything is delicious, and it’s fresh made. We come in here often, and grab a sandwich and a cup of soup,” Cuevas said.
VO: Bungard says they’re happy doing what they love, and they appreciate the support of the community.
SOT: "We have a lot of long time customers, and we have a lot of new customers everyday. They always have good things to say and we appreciate that,” Bungard says.
