Emergency info on your phone could be the best life saving tool

Is our digital age the easiest way to access emergency information is through your cell phone. Emergency responders say that’s often the first place they look.

It’s vital for medical professionals to have medical information such as allergies and surgical history before going ahead with a procedure.

It’s also important to have your medical emergency contact list up to date. If you get taken to an emergency room with a traumatic injury and your unconscious or unable to make a decision, your emergency contact becomes your decision maker. They will be the person to give consent when medical decisions are being made on your behalf.

To update your emergency information on an I-Phone go to the preset health application. Them at the bottom right corner hit Medical ID.

Then set up a profile.

From there you can enter things like medical conditions, allergies, blood type, and if you’re an organ donor.

Scroll down and you can update your emergency contacts list.

If you have Android software go to the Google Play store and download a Medical ID application.

From there you can open the app and create a profile.

On the android device you can go to the settings within medical app and set up the lock screen preferences so your Medical ID can be accessible while your phone is locked.

On the I-phone’s lock screen you can hit emergency at the bottom left corner and from there find medical ID.

Remember medical professionals will treat you the best they can even without your emergency information. But, if it’s available your treatment, and notifying family can go a lot smoother, and get you one the road to healing faster.
