Eric Dyches never imagined he would lose the love of his life this way.
Emily Dyches was a devoted mother of five, a loving wife, and the kind of person who made everyone around her feel seen. But behind her warm smile, she was quietly battling a debilitating postpartum mood disorder after the birth of their youngest son.
On February 24, 2016, everything changed. While riding with Eric on the interstate, Emily suffered a severe panic attack. Believing she needed to escape to safety, she suddenly jumped out of the moving vehicle and ran into traffic, where she was struck and killed by a semi-truck.
In this emotional interview with Nate Eaton, Eric shares the woman Emily truly was, the heartbreaking moments leading up to her death, and why he has dedicated his life to raising awareness about postpartum mental illness.
His hope is that by telling Emily's story, other families will recognize the warning signs, seek help sooner, and know they are not alone.
