A major clash of experts on day 18 of the Lindsay Clancy trial as the defense rested its case.
Renowned forensic psychiatrist Dr. Phillip Resnick testified Lindsay was “clearly psychotic” when she killed her three children and said she believed a commanding voice had taken control of her. He concluded she was unable to conform her behavior to the law.
But prosecutors immediately called their own psychiatrist, Dr. Avram Mack, who reached a dramatically different conclusion. He believes Lindsay was severely depressed but not psychotic and still understood right from wrong.
Mack also testified about what Lindsay told him happened that night, including that a voice told her to kill the children and that she took them to the basement one by one.
The defense then went after Mack's experience with postpartum psychosis and challenged his conclusions.
Tonight Nate Eaton breaks down the latest developments from the trial.
Then we head to Florida and the Mario Fernandez Saldana trial, where jurors heard a deep dive into cell phone records, deleted Google data and firearms evidence in the Jared Bridegan murder case.
At one point, Jared’s widow was called up for being in contempt of court for not turning over her cell phone. Grace Wong will join Nate from Florida to discuss the issue and what happened.
The day ended with a potentially explosive development outside the jury's presence: prosecutors brought in a jail inmate who claims Fernandez talked about the case while they were incarcerated together, including who allegedly came up with the idea to kill Bridegan.
