2:23Now PlayingSince Aryan Khan's arrest and subsequent bail in the Mumbai cruise ship drugs case, Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik has been levelling one allegation after another against Narcotics Control Bureau zonal director Sameer Wankhede, ranging from extortion to 'kidnapping'. Wankhede's father Dnyandev Wankhede, in response, recently filed a defamation case against the NCP leader in the Bombay High Court, seeking permanent orders to debar Nawab Malik, his party members and others from targeting or tarnishing the Wankhede family reputation in any manner. Now, the Bombay HC has asked the NCP leader to file an official reply in the defamation suit. The Bombay HC took notice of Malik’s replies on social media and directed him to file an official reply with the Court till Tuesday, 9 November. The matter has been posted for a hearing on 10 November. Meanwhile, on the other hand, the NCB has also taken notice of Nawab Malik's many claims and activities on social media. After Malik recently leaked a phone conversation between Sam D’Souza and NCB official, VV Singh, the agency now suspects illegal phone tapping. According to a media report, NCB sources suspect that Singh's phone was tapped after the agency's action on a retired Mumbai Police ACP's son in June 2021. The report further added that the agency also suspects that Sam D’Souza could have leaked the conversation. Reports also suggest that senior NCB officials are now mulling over the issue and contemplating their next move. An NCB source reportedly told a news portal that two calls from Dubai were received by an NCB official after Nawab Malik’s press conference. D'Souza's name first popped up in connection with the pay-off allegations in the Mumbai cruise drugs case involving superstar Shah Rukh Khan's son.
