Mumbai Police SIT has sought CCTV footage of NCB office; here’s why

The Special Investigation Team of the Mumbai Police has sought CCTV footage of the Narcotics Control Bureau's south Mumbai offices from dates leading upto October 2 when superstar Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan and others were brought to the NCB's Ballard Estate office in connection to the Mumbai cruise ship drugs case. Sources reportedly told a news channel that the process of formally asking the agency to provide the footage ‘has begun’. An official, close to the development, was reportedly quoted as saying, 'This is to check the activity and movement of Sam D’Souza, K P Gosavi and Manish Bhanushali inside the NCB office.' As is known to most, the SIT is presently conducting a parallel investigation into extortion allegations against the NCB team in the case. On November 9, a high-level meeting was called at Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil's residence which saw Mumbai Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale and Joint CP Law and Order V Nangre Patilin in attendance, along with NCP chief Sharad Pawar. If reports are to be believed, besides other developments, the SIT's findings into allegations levelled at Sameer Wankhede has also been discussed. The official further revealed that the SIT has already recorded the statement of NCB’s independent witness Prabhakar Sail, who had claimed that he had heard NCB witness K P Gosavi discussing a pay-off deal of Rs 25 crore after Aryan Khan was arrested. Meanwhile, a few days back, Mumbai BJP youth wing chief Mohit Bharatiya alias Mohit Kamboj alleged that Sunil Patil is the mastermind of the entire conspiracy. Kamboj further alleged that Patil was associated with many leaders of the ruling Nationalist Congress Party, including former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh. However, Patil has denied all allegations.
