Swara Bhasker trolled for her tweet after Karnataka HC upholds hijab ban in educational institutions

After the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday upheld the hijab ban stating that wearing the hijab is not an essential religious practice of Islam, there has been a Tsunami of opinions on the social media. From common men to politicians, almost everybody has been talking about the HC order and our BTown is no different. Known for putting across her opinion unabashedly, actress Swara Bhasker took to Twitter and shared her thoughts after retweeting a journalist's tweet about HC's decision on Hijab ban. Swara posted a cryptic tweet and it seems that she compared 'Eklavya being denied education' to the Hijab ban. The actress wrote, 'Remembering the story of how Eklavya was denied an education because of his identity..' Her post went viral in no time and received a lot of criticism from the netizens. Some tried to school her and wrote comments like, 'Eklavya was the son of Devashrava who was the brother of Kunti and Vasudev,''Eklavya didn't wear Hijab !! And Dronacharya was appointed for Hastinapur Kingdom not for him. Ask your daddy to buy you Mahabharata.' While there were others who pointed out that everyone should abide by the law and left comments on her posts like, 'In School, Be it Eklavya or Arjun. They need to abide by the same uniform. Your religious identity doesn't matter' and 'Dont know abt ur education but we nvr questioned the uniform prescribed by school or college. It was never part of any discussion. I am talking abt KG to Engineering. Also you may consider not to speak or write about everything which sometimes isn't properly understood by U.' Veteran actress and BJP MP Hema Malini also reacted to the HC's decision and said, 'No need to impose a new ban on Hijab in other institutions or working places but in school the dress code should be followed.'
