Aishwarya Rai gets criticised for dodging praise on Indian actress' performances

An old video of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is making rounds on the internet, wherein she opened up about the actresses whose performances she enjoyed, including Meryl Streep and Cate Blanchett. The 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' actress, when asked if she liked any Indian actress’ work, said, 'All our veterans. There are so many performances...if I had to mention, I’ll be sitting here forever.' However, soon after coming across this video, a few netizens started trolling Aish for not naming other beautiful women and not acknowledging her competition. Reacting to the video, one said, 'That’s classic Ash. She has always been jealous and insecure', another wrote, 'She has always had the “not like other girls” attitude. So her not acknowledging her competition is pretty classic.' 'She could have said Deepika or maybe her co-star Anushka Sharma', said one user. Amid this criticism, Aishwarya's fans defended the actress and wrote, 'Like her or not, her popularity is unprecedented. You can’t even compare her to the likes of Katrina, Deepika, Kareena. In every small town in India, for a generation, she was the top actress.'
