Sumona Chakravarti opens up about the pressure to meet society's expectations of beauty

Actress Sumona Chakravarti recently shed light on the pressures of maintaining beauty standards in the industry and how grey hair becomes a scare. Taking to her Instagram account, 'The Kapil Sharma Show' actress dropped her monochrome pictures and penned a long note about 'Greys.' Sharing her perspective on ageing and grey hair, the actress wrote, 'So every now & then I will have some woman tell me that I should colour my greys & cover it. 'It’s showing,' they say.' She added that however, 'male friend of mine has specially complimented me about my greys saying how beautiful they make me look.' Further, Sumona stated, 'What is it with women & aging that society cannot accept? On the other hand, a MAN with a salt-and-pepper look is sexy, desirable, hot, blah blah. Is it because I’m an actor that I need to constantly keep up with what’s happening in fashion/society?' While emphasizing that aging is a natural part of life and should be embraced rather than feared, the actress shared, 'As an individual, on a very personal level, I’m learning to embrace & love my body more and more with each passing year.' She concluded her note by shelling out positivity and mentioned, 'With each passing year the body will change. We have to evolve & learn to accept ourselves & age as beautifully & as gracefully as we can.'
