Republicans Try To Rebrand Themselves As The Party Of The Working Class

Republicans know how badly Donald Trump damaged their party, and now they are trying to make up for his damage with a nifty re-branding. They now want people to view them as the Party of the Working Class, but that would mean that voters would have to ignore the last 40 years of politics. Farron Cousins discusses this.

Axios is reporting that the Republican party understands they're in a lot of trouble, tens of thousands of people across the country have already left the party. Uh, we've talked about that ad nauseum, and we'll keep talking about that by the way. Cause it's just a fun story. But the Republicans who actually have power in Washington DC had a meeting and they discussed the fact that they have to rebrand their party, right. They can't just be the Trump party. They have to actually stand for something. And so they've actually settled on trying to rebrand themselves as the party of working class America, the blue collar party. Um, and in order for that to succeed, by the way voters would have to ignore the last 40 years of American politics, they would have to ignore 40 years of Republicans pushing cuts to social security, cuts to Medicare and Medicaid destruction of unions.

And of course their disastrous trickle-down trickle-down economics. And of course, the fact let's not forget this, that every single Republican president in my lifetime has overseen a recession. There hasn't been a single Republican serving as president of the United States over the last 40 years that has not witnessed a recession occur during their administration, but sure. You're the working class party, right? You're you're the party of the blue collar workers who you continuously screw over every chance you get. I mean, y'all are the ones right now who don't want to give them any kind of stimulus relief. Instead you want to push for more tax cuts for your wealthy bodies. And look at, I know both parties are totally captured by corporate interests. They both take funding from wall street. They both take fossil fuel money. They both take money from, from drug companies and hospital corporations.

It's just that Republicans get a little more of that. Republicans have more millionaires and billionaires funding, their party and their entire political apparatus, including their media than the Democrats do. So, yes, Republicans are far more guilty of this than Democrats and they're never going to win over the blue collar workers. Now they think according to this Axios report that they can tap into the same kind of blue collar, you know, everyday working man, uh, energy that Trump did now here is why Trump actually was successful with that. Not only did he play on the integration created, uh, racism of some individuals, the people who didn't quite realize they were racist, but they still bought into the Hey Mexicans are coming over here taking my job, even though it never actually happened to them. They bought into it because it was a fear of the others. Donald Trump told them who to blame for their lot in life. But if he were being honest with them, he would have said, the reason that your job gets sent overseas, the reason that you haven't had a raise in 20 years is actually because of the Republican party. They're the ones who have facilitated. They're the ones taking the most money from the corporations who are holding you down. That's what the Republican party is. So no, you cannot recreate what Trump did because he took advantage of a moment.

You know why it's called a moment? Cause it's a flash in the pan, right? It's a one-time deal, right? You don't, you don't get another moment to do that. You had people in this country that were off, that weren't getting raises that were being overworked, underpaid, watching everything around them, crumble, including the country, the infrastructure and all of that. And Trump said, Hey, Democrats been in charge for eight years and uh, your situation's not any better. How about you come to me because it's their fault. And I'm going to take care of them and you're going to get better. And then after four years they realized we're actually worse off his policies hurt us. So the Republicans can try all. They want to rebrand themselves as the working class party. And I'm sure plenty of voters here are going to fall for it. And I say here being all of America, not just Florida, but let's be honest, Florida voters will fall hard for it.

Um, but you can't escape the truth. You can't escape. 40 years of middle-class destruction. If you were serious about this endeavor and you really said, you know what?
