Arizona Republicans STILL Trying To Hide Truth About Ballot Audit

A court this week ordered Republicans in the state of Arizona to turn over their records about the ongoing ballot audit. They have been trying to keep all of the information a total secret from the public, which is likely a defense mechanism to save face. Additionally, both Republican and Democrat election officials released reports saying the entire audit has been a farce from the beginning. Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

The ballot audit still going on, by the way, in the state of Arizona hit a couple of snags this week for Republicans, first and foremost, we had a major court ruling from an appeals court that upheld a lower court's ruling from Maricopa county saying that the Republicans in the state had to turn over all of the records of the audit to a watchdog group that had requested them. The judge ruled that even though the data, the records and all that is in the hands of a third party, cyber ninjas, because they're carrying out in official duty of the state, the judges did rule that this would fall under the state records act, which means, yes, everybody's entitled to see what the heck is going on. Lower court. Judge had said the same thing, Republicans, uh, in the Senate still refusing to turn over those records.

They now have until August 31st to give those records up before the court ruling, you had two separate reports come out one by a Democrat one by a Republican. And they both said the same thing that this audit is riddled with flaws, disorganization, misinformation, and lies and retractions. And it's been a complete farce from the beginning, both reports, the Republican one and the Democrat one said the same thing just with different words. And honestly, that's a given, right? We all know that, which clearly is why these Senate Republicans in Arizona are trying to hide the records of this. They don't want us to know all the donors that have come in and paid for this. They don't want us to know what's been found in the ballot audit because the answer is literally nothing and they don't want us to know why in the heck it's taken.

So dang long to figure this whole thing out. It's only 2.1 million votes, and y'all have been at it for a five months now, five months, and you nothing to show for it except, you know, $3 million worth of voting machines that a cyber ninjas ruined for you. So you can't reuse those. You got to buy new ones, but everybody's just waiting for this whole thing to come to an end. And I want to read a quote from the Republican. Um, here it is, I will keep fighting for conservatism and there are many things I would do for the Republican candidate for president, but I won't lie about the election and I will not unjustifiably turn my back on the employees of the board of supervisors, visors recorder's office and elections department, my colleagues and friends that was from Steven richer, the Republican recorder of Maricopa county. Uh, the only thing that has been consistent about this endeavor have been the miss deadlines and having to walk back statements.

It's a pretty powerful statement, especially coming from a member of the party that is forcing this ballot audit to continue. Now, as I have repeatedly said again, we don't have the results of this audit, but if they had found any evidence of fraud, any evidence of hacking any evidence of foreign inter intervention, they would have already done some kind of small press conference and just kind of kept the public up-to-date. They wouldn't be hiding the records. If they had all of this damning information, they wouldn't wait and release it in one bombshell, they would do the slow trickle to keep people intrigued, to keep people thinking that something was going on. The fact that they haven't speaks volumes, I've been in this business far too long, following American politics reporting on American politics for nearly two decades. We know how these things work when there's actually something to report. And this ain't, it.
