Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene is once again trying to rehab the images of people involved in the Capitol Riot, this time by trying to claim that Ashli Babbitt was actually trying to STOP the Capitol rioters. Babbitt was shot by police officers and killed during the attack on the Capitol, and Republicans desperately want her to be made into a hero, as Farron Cousins explains.

According to Republican representative, Marjorie Taylor green in a video she posted late last week on social media, Ashley Babbit the woman who was part of the capital riot mob, who was killed by police officers. She actually wasn't part of the mob at all, what she was doing. According to Marjorie Taylor green was trying to get people to leave. She was actually trying to prevent them from somehow getting into the speaker's chamber, where of course bait was shot and killed. Here's what green said. Ashley bait was someone that was trying to stop them from going in and that's on video and there's actually proof of it. There is nothing at all to suggest that Ashley bait was trying to get these people to turn around and go home and just quietly enjoy the rest of their day. What is on video of course, is a police officer shooting and killing her, which I will say, I, I don't think that should have happened.

Absolutely. Should not have happened. Ashley Babbitt should be alive. She should have had the opportunity to stand trial for her involvement and let a jury decide whether or not she was guilty. She should not have been killed that day. So that's my statement on that, but I also do not believe that it is okay for Republicans to turn her into some kind of hero that she definitely was not. Now what green is actually doing is pushing a conspiracy theory. That of course has been brewing among the far right for quite some time. Well, over a year at this point where they have tried to paint bait as some kind of hero, that wasn't a part of the mob. Instead, a popular video among the right wing shows, uh, or, or attempts to show, excuse me, she was actually fighting a back against Antifa Antifa, undercover people, I guess in the capital mob is what Ashley Babbitt was trying. She was trying to get those people to not go in.

Now, again, there's no proof of this. This is just building off of the other popular right wing conspiracy theory that this was a false flag operation. And that you had Antifa foot soldiers trying to get people to storm the capital, to make them all look bad. That of course didn't happen. And the reason we know it didn't happen is one because there's no evidence, but more importantly, because these capital rioters have posted their own information on their social media outlets. And we can go through their social media accounts for many, many years before the riot even happened and see them talking about Trump, see them talking about things like civil war, about getting violent against liberals, all the evidences there that shows that these were in fact die, hard, Trump supporters, but green has done a good job

Over the last year and a half of trying to paint these people as some kind of political prisoner they're being persecuted because of their political beliefs. Now they're being prosecuted because they broke the law. Ashley bait's presence in that building was illegal as was everybody else's who was not a sitting member of Congress or a staffer or somebody who worked there illegally entering the building itself was a crime. Now it's not a capital crime. It's not a capital offense, right? Ashley bait should not be dead. You know that cop, I do believe we need to have a thorough investigation. I know obviously they were scared, but bait was not armed as far as we know and didn't deserve to die, but she also does not deserve to be put up on a pedestal. Like people like Marjorie Taylor green are trying to do by rewriting the events of that day. There is no evidence to suggest she was trying to get people to turn away. There is definitely no evidence to suggest that there were Antifa foot soldiers encouraging these Trump rioters to go into the capital. None of it is true, but truth never matters to these people. And so this is the new narrative that people like Marjorie Taylor green are trying to push.
