Trump's Lawyers Are REFUSING Subpoena From January 6th Committee

The January 6th Committee recently voted to issue a subpoena to Donald Trump to get him to testify about the events surrounding January 6th. There's just one problem they're running into: They can't find a Trump lawyer willing to accept service of the subpoena. The lawyers that they've spoken to on Trump's team keep saying that they aren't representing him in the matter, so the subpoena cannot actually be served. Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

As I'm sure everybody is already aware, during the most recent televised hearing from the January 6th select committee, all nine members of that committee voted unanimously to subpoena Donald Trump to come on up to Washington, DC and sit for a conversation. They wanna subpoena him. They voted to subpoena him, they're gonna subpoena him. But there's a problem So far, the January 6th committee has not been able to find a single lawyer working for Trump, willing to accept the service of the subpoena. See, you can't just send it to him in the mail. Right. Uh, serving a subpoena is a real legal action that has to be done by a process server. It has to be received either by the defendant or plaintiff in some cases, or by their legal counsel. But according to the committee, they've reached out to Donald Trump's lawyers, people like Evan Corcoran, uh, people like John Rowley saying, Hey, we've got this subpoena, or We're about to have a subpoena.

We haven't technically gotten it yet, but we're gonna get it. Um, can we give that to you? And the lawyers they've reached out to have said, No, no, you can't. Uh, see, I'm, I'm actually not representing Trump in that matter. Like, I'm, I'm working on these other cases for 'em, but I'm not doing that. So I'm not the person that could accept that. Even though I'm a lawyer on his payroll, I am representing him. He is technically my client, but, Oh, shoot, I, I can't take that one. Nope. this is the dumbest thing I think I've ever heard.. Here's the thing, as I mentioned, right? It's gotta be served to the individual themselves, but usually it does go through their legal counsel and technically, technically, it doesn't matter if the lawyer they serve it to is the lawyer representing him in that case, Right?

They could be representing him for a car accident, but technically you are his lawyer. We can give you the thing, right? The committee doesn't have to wait. They could just be like, Okay, but you're still his lawyer. So our guys outside. Could you just take the piece of paper from his hand as he tells you, you've been served. The committee doesn't want to do that. So here's what I suggest to the committee. Go serve it to Donald Trump. Like literally, what is stopping you from sending your guy just down tomorrow? Lago, knocking on the door. We know it's not difficult to get in there. Or there's been multiple different spies that have been caught at Malago just saying, they walk right through, by the way. Just say, Oh, I'm going to the pool. And they're like, All right, go on. Couldn't you have your process server do that? You know, make him show up in a bathing suit, towel draped over his
