Sidney Powell Gets Away With It Judge Won't Disbar Her For Election Lies

A judge in Texas did the most predictable thing this week by denying the state bar's request to have Trump lawyer Sidney Powell disbarred for spreading election lies and for filing fictitious lawsuits. There is still a chance that Powell could end up facing consequences in other states (and she already has in Michigan) but Texas is gonna do what Texas does, and they'll always fight to protect corrupt Republicans. Well, folks, we got a bit of a bummer of a story to end the week on. But nevertheless, a court in the state of Texas has decided that Sidney Powell will not be facing any kind of disciplinary action for filing basically frivolous lawsuits to overturn the results of the 2020 election. A complaint had been brought against her by the state bar in Texas. In fact, it was the state bar of Texas's Commission for Lawyer Discipline filed the complaint in court, basically seeking to disbar Sidney Powell for breaching the code of ethics for lawyers in the state of Texas. But it's also the state of Texas. You're in right wing country now, whether it's judges who get appointed or judges who are elected, you're gonna have a tough time disciplining a single Republican in that state ever. And of course, good old Republican judge protects good old Republican election denier and rules that Sidney Powell did not violate the ethics code, at least as far as the state bar was able to prove.

The judge also says that the state bar improperly labeled some of their exhibits. So I couldn't even consider those in my decision. The state bar that's in charge of lawyers. So you're talking about the best legal minds in your state. Basically, they somehow messed up the filing of evidence in a lawsuit, the labeling of exhibits. That doesn't seem possible, but you know, that's what the judge says. So I gotta gotta take her outta word here. Um, this is, is troubling to me for, for many reasons. We have already seen Sidney Powell be disciplined in other states for filing these knowingly frivolous lawsuits to overturn the results of the 2020 election. We have seen other attorneys who at one point or another were working hand in hand with Sidney Powell, including Rudy Giuliani, be disciplined for the same thing in other states. So why is it that the state of Texas is able to look at the exact same set of information that the other states looked at and come to a completely different conclusion? Hell up in Michigan, I believe it was Sydney Powell's lawsuits were so ridiculous. The judge actually ordered her to take an ethics class. Like that's how bad you screwed up. You need to go back to school sydnee, and that's what I'm ordering you to do. But in Texas, the judge like, nah, it's fine. I think it's the state bar that messed up. Bull Bull is all I'm gonna say to that. Like totally 100% bull. Now that, uh, the state bar does have the option to appeal this ruling, uh, they were reached for comment, uh,

By news outlets. They have not said anything. They have not said if they're gonna appeal. So we don't know if this issue is dead completely in Sydney, Powell's off the hook in Texas, or if they're going to appeal it, maybe they'll have the opportunity to refile it and, you know, properly label their exhibits this time if that actually was a thing. But either way, this is truly disappointing, not because I loathe Sidney Powell, but because I actually like justice. I like when people who knowingly do wrong things have to face the consequences of those actions. And in my opinion, that's exactly what Sidney Powell did. This is the same woman who told or emailed a Fox News reporter telling her, Hey, this decapitated time traveler says she has evidence of voter fraud. And if that's what she believes as an attorney to be a, a viable piece of evidence, then she should be disbarred. But Texas gonna do what Texas does and Republicans can always count on Texas to not hold them account.
