Republicans Will Dismantle Social Security And Medicare If They Win In 2024

Republicans have made it clear that they want to put Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and many other social safety net programs on the chopping block. Luckily, they don't have the numbers to do that right now, but that could theoretically change after the 2024 election. A vote for Republicans is a vote for gutting the programs that are keeping millions of Americans from being completely destitute, as Farron Cousins explains.

Earlier this year, in fact, pretty much for the entire first half of this year, before we got to the debt ceiling stuff, one of the biggest issues that was happening in this country was the fact that Republicans were talking about cutting Social security, Medicare and Medicaid, right? Those so-called entitlement programs that are really, you know, earned benefits, social safety, net programs, programs that you have paid for your entire life, that you basically, by paying those payments out of every paycheck or making a contract with the government, that these programs will be there for you. Republicans made it clear these things are on the chopping block. And that leads me to yet another question here. This is from, uh, a YouTube user, Bart Tyler 9 8 3 5, Bart Tyler 9 8 3 5 says Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and SSI. I'm very concerned about the future of these programs. If Trump is elected Now, I don't think Trump's the only one you gotta worry about.

I, I think more long-term, we need to be looking at all Republicans as if they want to cut these programs because they've made it clear this year that they do. Trump is actually one of the only ones that has talked about what a stupid idea that is. And yet he's supported it in the past so he could support it again. But technically right now, Trump's not your biggest concern about that. Now, if Republicans continue to hold the house and they take back the Senate, and God forbid they also take back the White House with Trump in the White House, I think he would cut the programs, no problem. But in the meantime, if he doesn't win, and if Republicans don't get the House and Senate in 2024, great. We've got another four years of not cutting these programs down to the point where millions of people in this country are left destitute.

But then we got another election in 2028, and then what happens? These idiotic plans will come back. This isn't a, we gotta fix this right now, problem. This is, we have to continue to work to stop this problem because this is not going to go away. Republicans have been trying to gut social security since the Bush administration. Remember the grand plan from George W. Bush? Like let's privatize it. We'll give it all to Wall Street, and then Wall Street crashed and we would've lost all of Social Security. Yeah, well, they've been trying, they've been working on it. They've come up with different plans here and there. Privatization, by the way, is still not off the table for Republicans. So even if we can save it in 2024, we gotta worry about saving it in 2028 and then in 2032, and not just social security, Medicare, Medicaid, you know, the SNAP program, food stamps, all of these programs meant to benefit.

The people who need the most help are constantly on the chopping block with Republican politicians at the federal level, at the state level. It's happening all over the country and in the states. They are cutting when they're able to cut and people are getting hurt by these decisions. So even if we survive it on the federal level, we still have to do the state fights. And this is a fight that we have to keep fighting and, and I hate that people are still scared about this, but not to put more fear into you, you should be scared. These are big problems that Republicans have created and it's big problems that they're going to keep bringing up until we get enough of them out of office to where they just finally shut the hell up about it, because this would end up being a situation for them.

Just kinda like the abortion issue, right? Oh, they talked about abortion for 40 years without actually being able to do anything about it. Then as soon as they could, and they did, they get their butts handed to 'em in every election since then. Same thing would happen with Social security, right? You talk about it for 20 years, ha ha. Now we finally did it. And then you're gonna get crushed in every election for the next few years until the Democrats inevitably have to come along and fix it, because that's what Democrats have to do every time. So this isn't a fight that ends in 2024. If Democrats win, this is a fight that we're going to have to keep fighting for years to come.
