Rudy Giuliani is trying to weasel out of a defamation lawsuit against him in the dumbest way possible. Giuliani was sued by two Georgia election workers, and the judge already issued a pre-trial judgement against Giuliani finding him liable and ordering him to pay the legal fees of the women. Knowing this, Giuliani filed a motion requesting that the jury trial be scrapped, but the judge shot that down as "nonsense" because she knew EXACTLY what Giuliani was trying to do, as Farron Cousins explains.

In a court order on Sunday night, US District Judge Beryl Howell shut down a motion from Rudy Giuliani to just basically do away with his upcoming defamation trial, uh, that is being brought of course by the two Georgia election workers, Ruby Freeman and Shea Moss. Now, before I get to the heart of that, let's just remind everybody a few months ago, Rudy Giuliani said that he was not going to contest the defamation charges against him by Freeman and Moss. And so the judge in the case said, okay, well, I'm gonna go ahead and do a summary judgment and find you liable for the defamation. We're still gonna have a trial, a jury trial, that is going to determine how much money you have to pay these women. Oh, and by the way, on top of that, and this is important, you also have to pay their legal fees.

So in addition to the judgment that you will get from the jury, you also have to add their legal fees on top of that. So Giuliani in a motion he filed recently, the one the judge struck down on Sunday, said, Hey judge, I always laugh when I say that. I don't know why, but hey, judge, uh, how about we just do away with the jury trial, right? We don't, we don't need to bring 12 people in here. Like, ah, it's just too crowded. Ah, we, you know, covid is still a thing. We gotta don't want people in here. Uh, so what if you, the judge, you just tell me what I owe and uh, and we'll be good to go. and Judge Beryl Howell issued a ruling saying that, um, this is nonsense. This is absolute nonsense. Here is what Howell said in the motion Giuliani's position that the longstanding jury demand in this case was extinguished.

When he was found liable on plaintiff's claims, by default is wrong as a matter of law. Then, uh, Huffington Post writes in response to Giuliani's complaint that Freeman and Moss quote had the opportunity to forego any of the pretrial work to prepare for a jury trial. Once Giuliani informed them, he was seeking to avoid a jury trial, Howell fired back and said, quote, this is simply nonsense. Like you all already agreed to a jury trial, everybody signed the papers, but go back to that thing I said was key, right? He has to pay their legal fees. So what he's trying to argue in this filing that Judge Howell saw right through which he was saying, Hey judge, uh, we don't have to do a jury trial because, you know, again, like you've already said, I did it, so whatever. So, uh, their lawyers are preparing for a trial and they have to pay 'em hourly for that, but they don't really need to be doing that, so let's just scrap it all together and then I don't have to pay those fees. That's what the ruling was. Uh, uh, that's what the motion was about. It's not, 'cause Giuliani doesn't want to face a jury. It's because he doesn't want Freeman and

Moss racking up more legal bills as their lawyers prepare for trial. Sneaky little bastard is what he is. So I love that the judge said his, his argument was total nonsense, but she also should have added, you're a sneaky little bastard because it's obvious what he was trying to do. He wouldn't have brought up the fact that, Hey, by the way, your lawyers really didn't have to do all that work. You know, so you're kind of overworking them. So I don't think I didn't have to pay for that. Yeah, everybody saw right through what you were doing. And honestly at this point, I think Freeman and Moss, maybe y'all ought to have your lawyers go back, work a little bit more overtime, right? See, call, call them in on the weekends, rack up those bills because this bastard absolutely deserves that.
