Republican lawmaker Thomas Keane, who had been missing from the House of Representatives for four months. And for the record, when he, you know, left Congress to go away for a while, he didn't tell anybody he was leaving. He didn't run it through anyone. He just disappeared. So, it was weeks before anybody even noticed. But he came back this week and he announced that the reason for his disappearance was because he had been admitted to a hospital for treatment of severe depression. Fair enough, right? I mean, it's still no excuse for not letting your, you know, employer, which is the constituents who you represent, know that you were having to take extended time off or your co-workers, you know, letting them know you still should have done that. Like there is no excuse for that. But going away for 4 months to work on your mental health, absolutely definitely something you should do. You should have resigned and then done it. But you know, whatever.
Now, here comes the worst part of all of this because Lauren Boowbert was asked about Thomas Keane's absence. And in her response, she reminded us that she is in fact both the dumbest member of the House of Representatives and of course the trashiest. Here is what Lauren Boowbert said in response to TMZ asking her about Thomas Keane's absence. I think it's embarrassing. Who gets to take four months off of work because they're sad? Whatever the reasons may be, it's embarrassing. I don't care what party you're a part of. It's not okay. Oh, Thomas Keane's a little sad and can't go to work. Grow up, says Lauren Boowbert, who clearly doesn't know what the word depression means. See, most people, Boowbert included, uh probably think the word depression, you know, like depressed just means sad. Obviously, that's what she means. That's what she thinks depression is. like you just you're just feeling sad today. Nothing could be further from the truth. While sadness can be a symptom people experience with depression, the biggest aspect of depression is emptiness, nothingness. It's not that you feel sad, it's that you can't feel anything. You're not feeling sadness. You're not feeling loneliness. You're not feeling happy.
You feel nothing. You're numb to the world. Nothing matters anymore. You don't find joy in things. It is it is a lot more than just I'm sad. But people like Lauren Boowbert with a kindergarten understanding of how the world works don't realize this. In fact, in his return speech to the floor, Thomas Keane even said, you know, uh, when people hear the word depression, many think it simply means feeling sad. But depression is so much more than that. It is physical. It is emotional. Until you experience it yourself, it is difficult to fully understand how powerful this illness can be. And he said that when he, you know, went to the doctor for it, they recommend, they recommended, the medical professional said, "You, you need to stay in the hospital till we work through this." And that as anybody who knows anybody or anybody who has personally struggled with mental health issues, you know that that is a big warning sign. Now, it can mean many different things, but if the doctors say that your mental health is so bad, we we want to be able to monitor you, things are usually kind of pointing in one direction, if you know what I mean. So hopefully Thomas Keane has gone through this, but Lauren Boowbert's response
