as posted by the channelPolice and fire officials update reporters on a fatal boating accident that happened in the Hudson River on Tuesday afternoon. A charter boat carrying a dozen people capsized. Two NY Waterway ferries — the Garden State and the John Stevens — rescued nine people from the boat around 3 p.m., the company said in a statement. Crews from the NYPD, FDNY, and U.S. Coast Guard, including divers, also responded to the overturned boat and pulled the rest of the people from the river, officials said. A 50-year-old woman and a 7-year-old boy were trapped under the capsized boat. Divers pulled them from the water, Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell said at a press conference.
